New Work

Mixed  Media 12" x 12"
Detail
I have been working on this piece for a couple of weeks now, and I have a bit more to do before it is finished.  I am drawn to old peeling billboards, and decrepit walls that have been painted and repainted, with peeling paint and bits of old paper still apparent.  I find these scenes beautiful and alluring, and this is the subject of this piece.

Hi Cynthia, I am loving this new direction in your work. It's so free and expressive!

Me too. I love decaying buildings with ragged paint.

I really like this new direction of yours. :)

Jane...thanks so much for your encouragement...it does feel so free compared to the rigidity of mosaics.

Mary Ann....Yes, paint and paper can do some wonderful things together and I am enjoying exploring different techniques.

Robyn....Thanks so much...I can use all the encouragement I can get, as I only recently started painting again.

E...Thanks. That does not surprise me that you like decayed and ragged stuff...we are often on the same wavelength...

This is a great piece. You really have captured the feeling of a layered, old wall. And I love the color choices here too.
