Not Giving Up

 Untitled (2012-1)  14" x 24" Acrylic on Canvas

I have been painting now for about two years, and I rarely post the fruits of my labor here because I am never happy with the results, and I usually always paint over and over, and over the same canvas.  I have to quell the little voice that says, "just give up, you can't really paint"....and remind myself that it is about the process.  Recently my persistence has been rewarded by small revelations or epiphanies.  Hmm, another epiphany?

Noooo you must never give up! We are all so critical of our own work and yet look at this painting . It's beautiful! No painting over this one! Before covering up you should turn the paintings to the wall for a month and then decide. So often we can see the piece in a more positive light when we've rested it.

CM-totally agree with R - of course you can't give up - the art won'y let you. And you must know you are creating some great pieces - for example 20 September 2011. Stick with it. Go well and create well in 2012. B

ArtPropelled (Robyn) is so right... we are our own biggest critics.. and that constant doubt and criticism will bring an artist down. Just keep at it, if only for your own pleasure and the process.. you will only continue to grow.

this looks loose and free.
Stay with it.

Let it percolate or marinate or whatever mysterious htings paintings do while YOU get better eyes to see it.

The painting is already good.

oh, and thanks for being brave enough to show it. My current journal pages are total dogs' breakfasts.
