Untitled V 1982
Just finished reading, de Kooning: An American Master by Mark Stevens and Annalyn Swan, in preparation for the de Kooning retrospective at MOMA. It's a great read, I highly recommend it. I am much more an admirer of his work since reading the book, which is quite comprehensive and really gives one a sense of his life, his struggles, as well as his process and work ethic. He really did live to paint. Even as dementia began creeping in, somewhere in the 80's, he continued his daily routine of painting for hours on end, but sadly, by early 1990 he was unable to work, and he passed away in 1997.

Stunning! Funny, only ever known his 'darker' pieces.
First, he "take's" the future, before he "take's" the past!
This painting give's my a
lot of inspiration...Thanks,Cynthia.
